Fundraising Events
Performathon
The “Performathon” is a grassroots fundraiser held each Spring semester. During a marathon week of music and dance recitals, students of all ages and from all programs come together to raise money to support financial aid for students that could not otherwise study at NMS. Contributions are raised from family and friends who sponsor individual performers and recitals are open to the public. In Spring 2010, more than 600 students participated in the event, raising more than $35,000.
Performathon 2011: Saturday March 26 – Sunday April 3
Annual Gala
Each Fall, NMS sponsors a gala benefit to raise funds for the School’s financial aid programs and to support its full range of music, dance, and drama programs. NMS faculty, friends, and students provide musical entertainment.
The 2010 Gala, entitled Caribbean Soul and featuring island sounds and flavors, will be held Friday, October 22 at the New Haven Lawn Club. The event will feature NMS' Pantastic Steel Ensemble, a "Caribbean Cabaret" of Afro-Caribbean dance, instrumental and vocal performances by NMS faculty and special guests, dinner and dancing (with the Taxmen playing your favorite sounds of Summer!)
Island attire or black tie is preferred (shirt and shoes required!!). Seating is limited, please reply by October 15. For questions or tickets, please call Melanie Radawiec, event coordinator, at 203-624-5189, ext. 24.
Annual Fund
Every year, NMS appeals to its community of friends to contribute to the Annual Fund, which underwrites NMS’s programming and general operating expenses. All of NMS’s programs are partially subsidized in the interest of keeping the offerings accessible. Contributions ensure that NMS is able to maintain the exceptional quality of instruction at the school and to provide additional financial assistance to those for whom the programming otherwise would remain out of reach.
