Private Music Lessons

Private lessons are the heart of the NMS music education program. We offer:

  • Personalized instruction on more than 30 instruments (see list below)
  • A program of study tailored to your individual needs and learning pace
  • Lessons for children and adults at any skill level
  • Faculty members who are exceptionally qualified as both musicians and educators

How to Register for Private Lessons

For currently enrolled students
If you are currently enrolled in private lessons, an ensemble or most dance and music classes, you will be automatically re-enrolled for Spring semester. You do not need to re-register for Spring semester.

For returning students
If you, or an immediate family member, enrolled at NMS anytime since June 2010, you already have an online account. Do NOT create a new account. If you do not know your login information, contact the school at registration@neighborhoodmusicschool.org or 203-624-5189.

  • Log in to your account.
  • Select “View Courses” and then select “Private Lessons.”
  • Select “Re-Enrollment” for the location you are interested in and choose your instrument.

Wednesdays: Violin with Viara Albonetti (2 pm – 8 pm)

Studio Workshops

Many NMS faculty members supplement the curriculum of their weekly lessons with studio workshops. Typically, two to four sessions are held during each semester. Students perform in a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere; investigate the literature of their chosen instrument; develop sight reading skills and enjoy the encouragement and inspiration of their fellow students. Times are scheduled by individual teachers.
