Children's Dance

Discover African Dance

Ages 5-10; and 11 and up. Guinea, West African Dance. This style is playful, aerobic, rhythmic and integrally connected to live djembé and dundun drumming. This class helps build on individual student’s rhythm, strength, stamina and coordination, and inspires dancers with empowerment, self-discipline, respect and teamwork. Attire: comfortable, lightweight and breathable clothing with bare feet. Girls wear lapas and tops, with tights or flexible shorts underneath. Boys wear loose lightweight pants, and T-shirts. Heavyweight clothes are not recommended for this physically active class. 60 minutes.

Discover Modern Dance

Ages 4-6 with adult. This class is a fun, interactive introduction to the world of Modern Dance for a child with their parent, grandparent or adult caregiver. Explore together how everyday things and actions can become and inspire dance. Unlock your creativity. No experience necessary. Wear loose-fitting clothes or dancewear, bare feet. 40 minutes.

NMS Musical

Ages 7 and up. Learn dances from your favorite dance movies and musicals. Fun, exciting and high energy. Attire: jazz shoes/dance sneakers, comfortable dance clothes. 60 minutes.

Ballet 3

Ages 12-14. This class concentrates on proper alignment and building strong legs and feet through barre work and center practice. Attire: Girls - black leotard, white tights, pink ballet shoes; hair must be worn up and pulled back. Boys - white T-shirt, black tights, black ballet shoes. 75 minutes.

Ballet 4

Ages 14-17. This class concentrates on proper alignment and building strong legs and feet through barre work and center practice. Pointe work is a possibility in this class but not mandatory. Students must have at least two years of ballet and be evaluated by the teacher before going en pointe. Attire: Girls - black leotard, white tights, pink ballet shoes and Pointe shoes (see teacher for pointe shoe requirements); hair must be worn up and pulled back. Boys - white T-shirt, black tights, black ballet shoes. 75 minutes.

Ballet 2-3 Ensemble

Ages 9-14. Students are encouraged to participate in dance ensembles as a supplement to their regular technique classes. Ensembles concentrate on choreographic techniques and performance of dance pieces. Dancers have the opportunity to perform in the Winter and Spring concerts. Interested students should speak with their teacher about qualifications prior to registering. Attire: Girls - dance clothes, pink ballet shoes; hair must be worn up and pulled back. Boys - white T-shirt, black jazz pants, black ballet shoes. 40 or 60 minutes.

Modern 4

Ages 14-17. Attire: Girls - black tank unitard or black leotard with black footless tights/leggings, bare feet; hair must be worn up and pulled back. Boys - white t-shirt, black jazz pants/leggings, bare feet. 75 minutes.

Hip Hop 1 Beginning/Intermediate

Ages 7-9. A high-energy introduction to the funk/hip hop culture focusing on dance technique and sequence. Attire: black tank tops, black jazz pants/leggings, black dance sneakers. 60 minutes.
 

Adult Dance

Zumba

Teen/adult. Ditch the routine. Join the party. Zumba fuses hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing moves to create a dynamic workout. Fun and easy to follow, Zumba's Latin dance-inspired moves will get you waving and swaying. Attire: athletic shoes (cross trainers or court shoes) or dance sneakers, comfortable, breathable clothing. 60 minutes.

Hip-Hop 4

Ages 16-adult. An energetic and fun funk/hip-hop experience. This class focuses on dance technique and sequence. Prior jazz or hip-hop experience is helpful. Attire: black tank tops, black jazz pants/leggings, black dance sneakers. 60 minutes.

Salsa

Teen/adult. Let your hips lead the way! An easy introduction to the complex spins and turns of this intriguing dance form. Partner not necessary. Dance shoes recommended. 60 minutes, five week sessions.

Exercise and Energize

Adult. This class is a mix of core conditioning, stretching and easy-to-follow movement designed to stretch, strengthen and energize you. Great for all ages and experience. The format and intensity will be tailored to fit the participants. Attire: comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. 60 minutes.

Yoga

Adult. Yoga classes for health and stress management. An integrative approach to postures (asanas), breath work (prana) and holistic lifestyle are presented to help balance mind, body and spirit. All levels are welcome. Please bring a yoga mat and/or a thick blanket and wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. 45 and 90 minutes.
