Adult Dance Programs

See the dance class schedule for complete schedules of dance classes and to register online. Adult students need more flexibility with schedules, so we are pleased to increase the number of courses offered (see descriptions below).

Dance Class Rates and Options

We also offer these payment options. Rates for individual dance classes appear in the dance class schedule.

  • Yoga and Exercise Class "drop in" fee is $25 per class; five classes for $100.
  • The Adult Dance Card lets you sample any 10 adult classes for $250 (subject to class availability; valid for one semester only).

Class Descriptions

Adult Contemporary Ballet (Beginner)

A fun contemporary ballet class for the adult with some ballet knowledge. Great exercise. Attire: leotard, jazz pants/leggings (skirts, shorts and sweat pants may be worn), ballet shoes. 60 minutes.

Modern Jazz A & B

Ages 14-adult. This upbeat and exciting class incorporates warm-ups, center practice and combinations from different modern dance and jazz techniques (e.g., Horton and Graham). Flexibility, strength and technique will be the focus of Modern Jazz A, and choreography will be the focus of Modern Jazz B. Attire: black tank tops, black jazz pants/leggings. 60 minutes.

Hip-Hop 4

Ages 16-adult. An energetic and fun funk/hip-hop experience. This class focuses on dance technique and sequence. Prior jazz or hip-hop experience is helpful. Attire: black tank tops, black jazz pants/leggings, black dance sneakers. 60 minutes.

Hip-Hop

Adult. An energetic and fun funk/hip-hop experience. This class focuses on dance technique and sequence. Prior jazz or hip-hop experience is helpful. Attire: black tank tops, black jazz pants/leggings, black dance sneakers. 60 minutes.

Tap

This is a mixed-level class for the beginning or intermediate tap student. It will include a review of basic steps and rhythms used in fun and challenging combinations. Attire: comfortable, easy-moving clothing, tap shoes. 60 minutes.

Salsa

Teen/adult. Let your hips lead the way! An easy introduction to the complex spins and turns of this intriguing dance form. Partner not necessary. Dance shoes recommended. 60 minutes, five week sessions.

Exercise and Energize

This class is a mix of core conditioning, stretching and easy-to-follow movement designed to stretch, strengthen and energize you. Great for all ages and experience. The format and intensity will be tailored to fit the participants. Attire: comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. 60 minutes.

Yoga

Yoga classes for health and stress management. An integrative approach to postures (asanas), breath work (prana) and holistic lifestyle are presented to help balance mind, body and spirit. All levels are welcome. Please bring a yoga mat and/or a thick blanket and wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. 45 and 90 minutes.

Zumba

Teen/adult. Ditch the routine. Join the party. Zumba fuses hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing moves to create a dynamic workout. Fun and easy to follow, Zumba's Latin dance-inspired moves will get you waving and swaying. Attire: athletic shoes (cross trainers or court shoes) or dance sneakers, comfortable, breathable clothing. 60 minutes.
