A Day in the Life
The following schedule is meant to be illustrative of a typical day at our Preschool. Of course every day is unique and we do offer both full and half day enrollments. The regular Preschool Day runs from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm.
8:30-9:15 am Good Morning! Arrival and free play
Parents are encouraged to visit the classroom with their children and to connect with teachers. Children transition into their preschool day by freely exploring any activities around the classroom
9:15 am Morning Meeting
After a brief clean up, group is brought together to discuss the events of the day, “calendar topics” and any new concepts
9:30 am Snack
Children share a family style snack while developing a sense of community.
10:00 am Morning Activity Time & Dance
Part of the class participates in Dance activities in the Dance Studio; the rest of the class engages in teacher-supported activities at any of the classroom centers: Art, Blocks/Building, Texture Table, Science, Dramatic Play, or Writing Center. This one hour activity time allows for deeper explorations of concepts and curriculum.
11:00 am Playground / Outdoor Time
Children spend 45 minutes outside on most mornings. We utilize the school playground in the Park of the Arts behind the building.
11:45 am Music and Movement
Music and movement activities in the classroom include singing, listening, playing instruments, acting out stories and building a repertoire of songs.
12:00 Noon Lunch and Rest
After lunch, children are read a story. It is followed by quiet rest or nap time.
1:00 pm Afternoon Activity Time
Again in the afternoon, the children will spend time in teacher-supported activities. They are given choices and may often opt to continue an activity from the morning or a previous afternoon.
2:00 pm Snack and Story
The group is gathered back together again for afternoon snack and another storytime.
2:30 pm Afternoon Playground / Outdoor Time
Weather permitting, we go back outside for more free play before ending the day.
